GANDAKI, SEPTEMBER 14
Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Surendra Raj Pandey and Resident Representative for UNDP in Nepal, Ayshanie Madagangoda-Labe today held discussion on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of flood-hit Kagbeni of Mustang.
During the meeting, CM Pandey drew attention of UNDP for the support, stating that locals are still facing difficulties due to the flood that occurred at Kagbeni on August 13. The devastating Kagbeni flood had damaged property worth over Rs 1 billion.
Saying that it is not easy to complete all works related to reconstruction immediately amidst limited means and resources of the province government, he stressed that donor agencies should support in accordance with the government's plan. CM Pandey urged Labe to support production-oriented programmes to stop migration within the province.
Briefing the programmes run by UNDP in Gandaki Province, Labe said the programmes connecting the youths with employment would be launched in the province. "UNDP is ready to work with Gandaki Province government in reconstruction and rehabilitation of Kagbeni."
