KATHMANDU, JULY 28

United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Affairs, Donald Lu, is arriving here in the capital, today.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US Asst Secretary of State will reach Kathmandu this evening.

The high-level visit has been scheduled following the cancellation of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba's official visit. It is to be noted that Nepal has recently declined the US offer to be a part of its State Partnership Program (SPP).

Prior to this, Lu had visited Nepal on the eve of endorsement of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nepal-Compact of the USA.

As expected, many high level meetings will take place during Secretary Lu's visit, including one with PM Deuba.
