KATHMANDU, MAY 13

The United States has declared to provide support to Nepal to tackle the ongoing Covid crisis.

United States Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), one of the country's unified commands, announced on Thursday that it would provide USD 2.75 million in support to Nepal for crucial oxygen generating plants, liquid oxygen storage tanks, and oxygen transportation cylinders.

Different organisations including USAID, INDOPACOM along with the US government has in total assisted USD 50.9 million till date.

According to the Embassy of United States in Nepal, "Since April 2020, INDOPACOM has provided a total of nearly $5.8 million in Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster Assistance, and CIVIC Aid funding to Nepal that enabled the Embassy's Department of Defence team to purchase PPE, breathing devices (BiPAPa, CPAPs, oxygen therapy devices), isolation/disaster camp equipment and supplies, telemedicine equipment, COVID-19 testing supplies, handwashing stations, and medical equipment for numerous health clinics across Nepal."
