Nepal's Covid-19 tally moved to 431,191 as 8,842 fresh cases were reported in the past 24 hours on Thursday.

As many as 214 more Covid deaths were logged today after which Nepal's Covid-19 death toll stands at 4,466.

Meanwhile, antigen tests confirmed 118 positive cases in the past 24 hours. As such, total infections from both RT-PCR and antigen tests added up to 8,960.

Both new infections and deaths have risen sharply after Nepal logged Covid-19 cases in four digits on April 18.

According to the health ministry, 20,245 total tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, of which 19,474 were PCR tests while 771 were antigen tests. With this, a total of 2,712,562 PCR tests have been carried out in Nepal till date.

Likewise, 5,055 people who were earlier infected with the virus have been discharged in the past 24 hours as per the latest data provided by the health ministry.

As of today, 321,518 individuals have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection. The recovery rate from the disease stands at 74.6 per cent.

Nepal's active Covid-19 case count currently stands at 105,207.

Currently, there are 497 individuals in various quarantine facilities across Nepal.

On Wednesday, Nepal's coronavirus case count reached 422,349 with 9,238 newly confirmed cases.

Globally, over 161 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus while 3.3 million people have lost their lives to the disease.

Likewise, over 138 million people have recovered while more than 18 million cases are still active.
