Whereabouts of Ram Hari Pandit, 48, of Byas municipality-6 Ranitar in Tanahun remain unknown for the past 20 years.

The family of the missing has been in despair since he went out of contact in April 1995, when he worked as the secretary of Ghan Pokhara VDC in Lamjung.

He had left the village for district headquarters Besisahar, saying he had some official work to attend to.

“Though we have appealed to all the concerned authorities to help us find our son, they have not been able to bring back our son,” said his mother Manu Maya. His wife Sita is also living with a slim hope of his return.

“We do not even know if he is still alive. However, I not lost hope that he would return home someday,” said Sita with tearful eyes. Before he was transferred to Ghan Pokhara, he served at Samibhanjyang VDC of the district.

The victim’s family suspect that he might have been kidnapped or murdered as cases of disappearances were on the rise during the Maoist insurgency.
