NEPALGUNJ, APRIL 22
Venomous snakes have begun appearing in increased numbers in Banke district as temperatures rise, according to the Division Forest Office.
Senior Division Forest Officer Shankar Prasad Gupta said species such as Russell's viper, krait and other venomous snakes are emerging in search of cooler environments during extreme heat.
Authorities reported that snakes have entered residential areas, with at least one snake is rescued daily and up to three cases recorded on some days. Sightings this summer are higher than in previous years.
A total of 140 snakes of various species have been rescued so far in the current fiscal year. Officials said the rescued snakes are released back into forest areas.
A dedicated rescue team led by an armed forest guard has been mobilised to respond to such incidents.
