Verdict on RCCC likely today

The Supreme Court (SC) is likely to deliver its verdict on the controversial Royal Commission for Corruption Control (RCCC) tomorrow.

One SC judge in the five-member special bench examining the constitutionality of the RCCC told this daily today the verdict on the case was likely tomorrow.

Justices Kedar Prasad Giri, Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Ram Nagina Singh, Anup Raj Sharma and Ram Prasad Shrestha have been testing the legitimacy of royal anti-graft body formed last year after the King took over power.

“We have been studying the case for the last 40 days. We were not able to arrive at a particular date for the lack of time for discussions,” said the Justice on condition of anonymity. According to him, discussions today lasted for more than five hours and would continue tomorrow. “If we manage to complete discussions tomorrow, the much awaited verdict might be delivered the same day,” he added.
