Vice-President airlifted from Sindhuli, hospitalised

KATHMANDU: Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun has been admitted at the Shree Birendra Hospital in Chhauni of Kathmandu after he suddenly felt some problem in his heart on Saturday.

The Vice-President's son, Dipesh Pun, told THT Online over phone from the hospital that the Vice-President was admitted at the hospital after he reported some problems in his heart while participating in a programme in Sindhuli.

"He had gone to Sindhuli via land route this morning," Dipesh said, "But, some hours after beginning of the programme, he said he felt dizzy and shivering. Also, he reported some problems in his heart."

"Then, he was taken to the Kathmandu-based hospital on a helicopter at around 4:30 pm today."

"The doctors have said that this is not a situation to worry too much," Dipesh added, "He will rest at the hospital for some time and will recuperate soon."

Likewise, Dr Kishor Jang Rana at the Nepal Army-run hospital in a statement this evening said the Vice-President's health is normal now.

Dipesh informed that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is visiting Pun this evening.

Pun, the former chief of the then CPN-Maoist's People's Liberation Army, had survived kidney failure in 2012. Media reports then had claimed that he had refused to go to India for treatment despite an immense pressure from his party. Later, he was successfully treated in Nepal.
