Viral fever patients up in Siraha

With the weather changing, the number of patients suffering from viral fever has increased at different health facilities of Siraha.

Some 100 to 150 seasonal patients visit Siraha District Hospital on a daily basis for treatment. Medical Superintendent Dr Nagendra Prasad Yadav said of the total number of patients visiting the hospital around 90 per cent were suffering from viral fever. He said the hospital had been facing shortage of beds after the sudden rise in the number of patients. “We are treating patients even on the floor due to lack of beds,” he added.

Likewise,, more than 100 patients reach Mirchaiya-based Primary Health Centre on a daily basis. Chief at the health centre Dr Rakesh Yadav informed that around 70 per cent of the  patients visiting the hospital were suffering from viral fever. He said the health centre lacked medicines and was finding it difficult to cope with the sudden increase in the number of patients at the health centre.

Likewise, the number of viral fever patients has also increased at Golbazaar-based Health Post. In charge of the health post Niranjan Shakya said that around 100 seasonal patients had visited the health facility since the third week of August. Of them, more than 80 per cent were viral fever patients.

The number of viral fever patients has also increased at Lahan-based Ram Prasad Umaprasad Sarada Memorial Hospital. More than 100 patients visit the hospital for treatment on a daily basis. Medical Superintendent Dr Sunil Kushwaha said health workers had not been able to provide proper treatment due to lack of beds.
