SIRAHA, NOVEMBER 21

Vote count has yet to begin in Siraha following disagreements over the counting process. Earlier, political parties had decided that vote count would start after an all-party meeting at 10:00am today, but as political parties demanded that the votes be counted ward-wise against the provisions in the election directory, counting couldn't start on time as previously stipulated.

Siraha has four HoR seats and eight Provincial Assembly seats, and thus far counting hasn't started anywhere.

According to Nepali Congress candidate Sunil Mahato of Siraha Constituency-1A, they are close to an agreement on ward-wise counting in Siraha Constituency-1.

Siraha has recorded over 62 per cent voter turnout. "Voter turnout has been between 62 and 75 per cent as per the details collected so far," said District Election Office Siraha Information Officer Ganapait Yadav.

Meanwhile, regarding the delay in vote count, district election office has said counting will begin in a while following talks with political parties this evening.

Further, the District Election Office said the counting would be done separately for the four constituencies at Lahan-based Dulichan Atithi Sadan building, Dhangadhimai Municipality's administration building, Siraha's Chandra Secondary School and Mirchaiya's Mohan Secondary School.

Siraha had a total of 422,071 registered voters voting in 221 polling stations and 505 polling centres.
