KATHMANDU, JUNE 25

The World Health Organization (WHO) has refuted the claims that a 'mix and match' regimen of Vero Cell and AstraZeneca CoviShield vaccines would yield more effective results.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, WHO Nepal clarified that it has not issued any such statements and the attribution is entirely false.

The public health body warned that such kind of misinformation can lead to grave consequences for the public.

"Data on the efficacy of 'mix and match' of vaccines remains limited," the WHO said.

It further elaborated that studies are ongoing regarding the interchangeability between vaccines.

"More evidence is needed regarding interchangeability of the second dose of AstraZeneca with Vero Cell vaccines before conclusions can be made," the WHO concluded.
