RAMECHHAP, JULY 20

A scooter rider and a child were injured after their vehicle struck a wild deer on the Manthali–Ramechhap road section at Machhedanda in Manthali Municipality-1 on Monday morning.

According to the District Police Office, the accident occurred when a deer suddenly appeared in front of a scooter (Bagmati Province 02-067 Pa 1623) travelling towards Manthali from Machhedanda, causing the vehicle to lose control and hit the animal. The deer, weighing around 20 kilograms, died on the spot.

The injured rider, Sanjiv Tamang, 18, of Salle, Ramechhap Municipality-8, received preliminary treatment at Manthali Hospital before being referred to Kathmandu for further care. A 10-year-old passenger, Jecis Tamang, sustained injuries to the head and abdomen. Police said the child's condition is stable and treatment is ongoing.

A police team led by Assistant Head Constable Ramdinesh Rai Yadav was deployed to secure the accident site. Officials from the Division Forest Office also reached the scene to manage the dead wild animal.

The scooter involved in the accident has been taken into police custody, and further investigation is underway, police spokesperson Kamal Raut said.
