Wild elephants wreak havoc in Jhapa

BHADRAPUR: A wild elephant demolished the houses of Kandru Rajbanshi and Keshav Khadka in Kumarkhod in Jhapa district last night.

According to the District Police Office, Jhapa, the elephant caused damage equivalent to around Rs 35,000 belonging to both Rajbanshi and Khadka.

Similarly, a herd of wild elephants believed to have come from the Charali forest destroyed property worth approximately Rs 40,000 belonging to Amaru Rajbanshi in Masale Gaun, Birtamod Municipality.

It is stated that wild elephants have been wreaking havoc in villages near Chandragadhi, the district headquarters, daily.

Police and the District Forest Office are having a hard time driving away the wild tuskers.
