Woman arrested in connection with murder of ASI Gurung
MALEKHU, DHADING: The local authorities here on Sunday arrested a woman in suspicion of her involvement in the murder of Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Bir Bahadur Gurung - stationed at the Area Police Office, Darkha, in Khaniyabas Rural Municipality-4 in northern Dhading.
The police arrested the suspect Tara Thapa Magar, who lives nearby the police post, according to the Superintendent of Police (SP) Sharad Khatri.
Magar's husband Sushil Gurung is currently on the run. Police accuse the husband – working as a social volunteer under the Strong House Programme – of calling ASI Gurung to his house with help of his wife and murdering him.
ASI Gurung's body was found on Friday morning in a corn field near the police post. He was working at the police station on Thursday.
SP Khatri said the investigation would take some time as they need to seek the court's permission for the individual mobile call details, and that the murderer would be detained soon.
ASI Gurung was temporarily deputed as the police station's incharge with the chief officer on holiday. The Darkha police post is located 40 km north of Dhading downtown and remains inaccessible by vehicles during the monsoon season.
