Woman dies of fever, relatives allege health worker’s negligence

Locals and relatives staged a protest accusing a health worker of negligence which resulted into a patient’s death at Thalaha bazaar of Chhedagad Municipality in Jajarkot today.
Resident of Jhapranalfu at Chhedagad-10, Panchakala Nath Yogi, 38, had been taken to Jayalaxmi Medico after she complained of fever, but she died yesterday evening while returning home.
Irate locals and family members staged a protest, demanding action against proprietor of the health facility Tilak Bahadur Bohora and compensation for the victim’s family. In the wake of the incident, police nabbed Bohora today.
Panchakala’s elder son Kishor Nath said his mother died due to health workers’ negligence. After the deceased complained of fever and chest pain, she was taken to the health facility. “After check-up, proprietor Bohora administered three injections to the patient and gave her some medicines,” Kishor Nath said.
According to Nath his mother died on the way home. “My mother died as she was given wrong medicines. She was admitted to the health facility for treatment, but she died of negligence”, he complained.
Kishor demanded stern action against Bohora. Panchakala is survived by two sons and a daughter. Her husband had died five years ago. Inspector Lok Bahadur Bista said the body was being taken to district hospital for post-mortem. “Bohora has been arrested and investigation into the incident is under way,” Inspector Bista said.
It has come to surface that Bohora has been illegally running Jayalaxmi Medico for the past 20 years. Bohora had agreed to close the health facility a few days ago.
