NC candidate Pandey becomes first ever woman to get elected as Chairperson

NAWALPARASI: Nepali Congress candidate Laxmi Pandey is probably the first ever woman candidate to get elected to the post of Chairperson in the local level elections.

Pandey, who had filed her candidacy from Hupsekot Rural Municipality in Nawalparasi district, garnered 4, 593 votes whereas her contender Megh Bahadur Pulami of CPN-UML secured 4,358 votes.

Similarly, UML candidate Kopila Malla secured 4,468 votes to become the vice-chairperson in Hupsekot. Her rival Om Thapa of NC secured 4,413 votes.

Likewise, NC candidate Danbar GC got 1,579 votes to get elected as the chairperson of Binayi-Triveni Rural Municipality where as Mina Rana of NC secured the post of vice-chairperson with 1,494 votes.

Nepali Congress candidates Durga Bahadur Rana and Maya Devi Shrestha have secured victory as chairperson and vice-chairperson of Buddhikali Rural Municipality respectively.
