Women rescued

Birgunj, June 24:

Four Nepali women labourers, who were bound for Kuwait via Mumbai without the consent of the Ministry of Labour, were rescued by volunteers of Maiti Nepal in India last evening.

Kusum BK, 20, Kusum BK, 17, Meena Tamang of Bharatpur and Meena Chaudhari were spotted at the Raxaul railway station by the Maiti Nepal volunteers and rescued with the help of the Human Rights Service Society. Ritu BK and Maya, who were involved in taking them illegally, fled, Maiti Nepal said.

“The trend of taking Nepali women by luring them with offers of good jobs in Gulf countries is on the rise,” Sangeeta Puri of Maiti Nepal said.
