JANAKPUR, DECEMBER 6

Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal Chair Upendra Yadav ruled out any chance of Dalit community's liberation without changes in the existing social and political systems.

At a workshop in Bardibas of Mahottari today, Yadav stressed the need to change the social and political system that was constraining the liberation of Dalits. "The prevailing social and political system is not likely to uplift and benefit the Dalits, the oppressed and minority community, he said, adding, "The entire country, along with Dalits, has failed to prosper because of the current social and political system. Therefore, it needs to be changed".

Expressing worry over the expensive electoral process due to the growing capitalistic system, he said if capitalism continued in the same manner, it would harm the country's political system.

Noting the need to allocate separate electoral constituencies for the respectful representation of Dalits and women, he asserted that political participation of these groups would not be robust without making changes in the electoral system.
