Kavre, December 31:

Seven cadres of the All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) affiliated to the CPN-UML and a former VDC secretary were injured when Young Communist League cadres attacked them during a programme organised by the ANNFSU primary committee of the Janvikas Higher Secondary School at Salmechakal in Kavre today.

ANNFSU central member Dipak Gautam, campus district committee president Bipin Lama and student leaders Durga Timilsina, Govind Thakuri, Bhojkumari Lama, Suman Poudel, Suresh Timilsina and former VDC secretary of Saldhara Shekhar Lama were injured in the attack by the YCL cadres.

School managing committee member Ramesh Poudel said the YCL cadres were led by their area in-charge Kishor and were carrying rods, khukuris and lathis. Poudel said Kishor snatched the mike from Durga Timilsina and threatened to kill all programme participants.

YCL cadres dragged Dipak Gautam to a room and thrashed him, he alleged.

Students allaeged that YCL cadres had threatened to kill ANNFSU campus committee president Lama. Injured student leaders are being treated at the local health post and clinics.
