Youth swept away by Kamala, found dead

JANAKPUR/RAJBIRAJ: A person died and three have been missing after being swept away by the Kamala River in Siraha district on Sunday.

Manoj Yogi (21) of Bardibas, Mahottari was found dead in the river, around five km north from Bandipur, informed DSP Shyam Singh Chaudry of Mirchaiya Police Post, Siraha.

While the missing have been identified as Suraj Tamang (16) and Dharma Raj Balampali Magar (17) of Bardibas-16 and Shiva Sankhar Thakur (17) of Gaushala, Mahottari.

The youth, who had come to participate in a Shrawani Sombar festival celebration, had been swept away while crossing the Kamala River from Chisapani, Dhanusha, said Area Police Office, Mirchaiya.

A team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force assisted by the family members of the missing are in an active search of them while the body of Yogi has been sent to the District Hospital, Siraha for postmortem.

Meanwhile, a youth of Jatuwa, Morang distirct, has been missing after being swept away by the swollen Jita River on Monday.

Sudeep Kumar Yadav (23) has been missing since 10 am, after being engulfed in the River. An employee of the Forward Bank at Hanumannagar in Saptari, Yadav went to the place for cash collection as a part of his job.

A team of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel has been deployed for search of Yadav, said SI Shambhu Basnet of Area Police Office, Hanumannagar.
