KATHMANDU: What happens when you bring one of the guitar maestros and one of the best bassist of the Nepali music industry with the most promising drummer of his generation — you create musical magic. The same magic has been created time and again on various stages by the Hari Maharjan Project (HMP) since its establishment in 2008. The band that is equally loved by music enthusiasts and critics, released its debut album Kalakarmi on April 3 in the premises of Nepal Music Centre (NMC) amidst its fans, various well-known personalities of music fraternity, NMC members and students.

The turn out, for the event, to watch the band perform live and encourage their music was “overwhelming” said Riju Tuladhar, bassist of the band. Similarly lead guitarist of the HMP, Hari Maharjan and drummer Daniel Rasaily expressed similar thoughts.

The album was released by ace saxophone player and Chief Administrator, of NMC Shubha Bahadur Sunam. During the programme a documentary about the band, their work, inspiration was also screened. It also included

various well-known personalities and students talking about their view on the band.

The album is recorded by Music Nepal studio and apart from the trio the album also features guests artistes like Nawaraj Gurung (tabala), Prabhu Raj Dhakal (Tanpura) and Santosh Bhakta (Ishraj). Due to load-shedding the place was relatively darker than usual but the emphasis given to the lighting on the stage added more charm to the whole setting. The band performed some of their creations, which received huge round of applauds from the audience.
