Limbuwan puts off stir over GPK demise

DAMAK: Kumar Lingden-led Federal Limbuwan State Council (FLSC) has withdrawn its indefinite strike which was called in nine districts of the eastern region on Sunday.

“The strike has been called off in connection to the death of Nepali Congress president and former prime minister Girija Prasad Koirala,” DB Angbung, information secretary of FLSC said in a press statement on Sunday.

FLSC had announced the bandh demanding that Manil Tamang, an activist of Sangiya Student Union who was killed in Free Student Union poll last year be declared a martyr, compensation of Rs 1 million to the family of the victim and adoption of a proportional system in the FSU poll in all campuses.

Tamang, a student in Dhulabari Campus, Jhapa was killed in police firing during the Free Student Union elections in the campus last year.
