PM's plan okayed in principle

KATHMANDU: The meeting of the Special Committee on the Integration and Rehabilitation of the UCPN-Maoist combatants held at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers on Thursday, principally, agreed to the action plan forwarded by Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal two days ago.

Madhav Prasad Ghimire, spokesperson for the committee, said members agreed to pass the plan with some amendments.

The PM, who is also the coordinator of the committee, had forwarded an action plan on the integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants that states that the process would be completed by April 30. NC’s Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, a member of the SC, said, “There are some political and technical issues that need to be amended.” A member of the technical committee under the SC claimed that it was impossible to integrate the combatants in four months.
