Students shut Birgunj for 2nd day
BIRGUNJ: Students called a Birgunj bandh for the second consecutive day on Sunday over the death of their colleague.
Rajat Subba, 20, a 12th grader of Birgunj Public College was killed on Saturday when he was hit by a tripper.
The educational institutions, vehicular movement, market places and industries have been brought to the grinding halt owing to the bandh.
Students are burning tyres demanding compensation to the deceased’s family members and stern action against the driver.
The irate students even tried to torch the tripper by locking the driver inside it on Saturday. However, the move was foiled when the police intervened and the driver rescued.
The student vandalised a number of shops and vehicles on the first day of the bandh, Saturday.
Meanwhile, police inspector and spokesperson of District Police Office, Parsa Bhuwaneshwor Sah said that the driver was taken into custody and the police interrogation was underway.
