Seventy years ago, a strange-looking skull was found in a cave in Mexico which was later christe-ned “Star Child”. If the skull can be proven to belong to a “little green alien” as is widely believed, the history of human civilisation will need a complete rethinking. If aliens did visit earth that long ago, they surely must have had some kind of influence in shaping the state of affairs in the planet.

Erich von Daniken, author of Chariots of Gods, has proposed the diffusion theory of evolution, which TV shows and movies on extraterrestrial life have done much to popularise. Acco-rding to Daniken, the trace of celestial life on earth can only be proven through what you see, not what you are supposed to see.

In this light, was ancient Egyptian goddess Nefertiti an alien? Her facial features are shown elongated and her skull abnormally large. Why such a big difference from the features of other human beings?

Another intriguing question centres around the great pyramids. In Mexico, it is believed that pyramids are links between gods and the earth. It is hard to believe that such engineering marvels could be built sans any technology without some “divine” intervention. What about other bizarre monuments like Stonehenge, Machu Picchu or the Nazca Lines in Peru?

Nazca lines are a set of lines consisting of animal and geometrical figures engraved in ground which extend for miles. It is very likely that aliens used this place to land their spaceships. Likewise, an Egyptian temple has an illustration of an electric bulb. Did Edison invent the bulb, then? And what about the “Baghdad battery” the archaeologists have dug up? Who made it and why? Were our ancestors more knowledgeable? Or were there “foreign” interventions?

In the 20th century, there have been UFO sightings all over the world, the first supposed sighting in June 25, 1947 in Boise, Idaho, which, in turn, is just 400 miles from Area 51, Nevada, the site of many UFO conspiracy theories. Until a UFO or an alien is caught on film, it is unlikely that the general population will believe in the presence of the extraterrestrial. But that does not take away a bit from the dark mysteries surrounding ancient Egypt, Stonehenge and Nazca lines.
