Pragmatism and education system
Despite knowing that our education system is not flexible, we are not able to do anything to modernise our education system so far. The principal goal of our education system is to score higher in examinations under any circumstances. In other words, in our education system everything seems excellent on paper but not in action, and that is why we face a debacle in converting our visions into realities. It is our education system that does not allow us to put the knowledge that has been gained to work.
Consequently, it shrouds our creativity and does not allow us to think about things in an innovative way. Because of this, prospective students are obliged to think that they are devoid of the capacity to do innovative things. Our country is lagging behind because we do not produce an adequate number of skilled manpower, and we have to hire manpower from other countries. As a result of this Sajha Yatayat is going to provide multi-purpose digital cards for its regular passengers, and it has hired technicians from foreign countries to set up the system. Do we not have technicians to undertake such tasks? Although our country produces a substantial number of engineers annually, we have to hire engineers from other nations because our education system does not provide us with the much needed secure platform to disclose our creativity. We are taught to store information, which is ephemeral, and not to understand information right from high school that continues till the university level as well.
We are not able to relinquish our antiquated education system because people who regulate our education system are ingrained with antediluvian thoughts, and they do not want to move ahead with the contemporary world. For instance, we are not allowed to see checked answer papers of our examinations, and we need to do something about this. It is the nature of human beings to commit mistakes and learn good lessons from them, but our education system has obliged us to forget our mistakes without atoning. Even after knowing our education system is biased, we appear satisfied with it, and we do not want to instigate a revolution to change our education system. Dr. Govinda KC has been doing a great thing for the nation, because he is on the way to change medical education in our country. Actually, Dr. KC is alluding to change our entire education system. For this our political leaders should take much of the blame for impeding the much desired changes in the education system.
