KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 16

Seen in the pictures are children writing with chalk on a wall during Shree Panchami festival at the temple of Goddess Saraswati, in Kathmandu, on Tuesday.

Parents guide smaller children to write while priests apply 'tika' on devotees visiting the temple.

On this day people, especially children, go to the temple for their first writing and reading lessons in belief that it will help them excel in education. Saraswati is considered the goddess of knowledge, wisdom and learning.
