Panchthar enter final

KATHMANDU: Panchthar beat Kathmandu 1-0 to enter the final of the Women’s Football Tournament at the Dasharath Stadium on Monday. Deepa Thapa scored the decider in the 65th minute. Panchthar will meet Armed Police Force in the final on Wednesday. — HNS

NCA selects players

KATHMANDU: Nepal Chess Association on Monday selected three players for the 15th Asian Games to be held from December 1-15 in Doha. Surbir Lama and Bilam Lama were selected for the men’s event while Monalisa Khumbu was chosen for the women’s event. The men’s selection tournament was held between the top ranked eight national players while Khumbu was picked after winning the selection tournament between the three participants. — HNS

Hayden OK for Ashes

BRISBANE: Australian Test opener Matthew Hayden learnt on Monday that he had a broken finger, but doctors said it would not prevent him from starting next month’s Ashes series against England. Scans revealed an undisplaced fracture on the little finger of his left hand. Hayden sustained the injury while taking a catch during county cricket on Friday. — AFP
