Ailing Tuladhar pleads help
KATHMANDU: Thanking all the individuals and associations for their help in her bid to save life, the eighth South Asian Federation (SAF) Games silver medal winning taekwondo player Manju Tuladhar pleaded for more help.
Tuladhar was diagnosed with the failed kidneys and the doctors involved in her treatment have advised for the transplantation, which, according to her, will cost around two million rupees. At a programme organised by the Nepal National and International Players Association (NNIPA) to hand over the amount raised by the Nepali taekwondo players in America, Tuladhar said she was grateful to all the individuals and associations for taking initiative for her cause.
The Nepali taewondo players in America raised $3,777 (Rs 287,308) following the request of the NNIPA. Kishor Shrestha, Sabita Rajbhandari, Basanta Pandey, Ram Sharan Chaudhary, Diwakar Maharjan, Suddhodhan Ranjit, Rita Shrestha, Bidhan Lama, Narayan Gurung,
Sita Rai, Achyut Baskota, Renuka Magar, Nirajan Shrestha, Nirmal Shrestha, Kamal Bahadur Chhetry, Laba Prasad Gorkhali, Jagan Lal Shrestha, Pramila Thapa, Lila KC, Ritu Jimi Rai, Srijana Mathema, Santosh Pradhan, Amir Shrestha, Rupa Syangden, Sapana Malla, Kalpana Thapa, Kumar Karki, Sudarshan Bahadur KC, Sima Dhami, Rajesh Tayaju, Bandana Shrestha, Padma Gurung, Bima Rai, Durga Gurung, Manmohan Waiba, Koshish Khadka and Rabi Ujjwal Thapaliya collected the amount.
Tuladhar has been undergoing dialysis at the Blue Cross Nursing Home twice a week. The NNIPA President Deepak Bista said the Youth and Sports Ministry had assured them of providing Rs 500,000. Tuladhar, a kyokushin karate player in her early days, shifted to taekwondo and gained height with the Asian Taekwondo Championship bronze medal (1988) and eighth SAF Games silver medal (1998). She also won the gold medal in the national games in Pokhara and bronze in the national games in Birgunj.
