Nepal APF Club and Sudurpashchim Province opened the Lalitpur Mayor Women Championship campaign with easy wins here at the TU Stadium today.

APF defeated Province-1 by eight runs, while Sudurpashchim Province recorded a seven-wicket victory over Lalitpur Mayor-XI in the Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by the Cricket Association of Nepal.

In the opening match, Province-1 posted 106-4 in their allotted 20 overs before APF reached 107-2 with 12 balls to spare. Province-1 skipper Rubina Chhetri top scored with 45 off 38 balls that included six fours, while Roma Thapa struck five boundaries in her 42-ball 33.

The duo shared a 66-run partnership for the third wicket after opener Apsari Begam was dismissed for a duck in the third ball and Kajal Shrestha departed for five.

Other batters failed to contribute in double figures for Province-1. Rekha Rawal, Karuna Bhandari, Sita Rana Magar and Binu Budha bagged one wicket each for APF.

In reply, APF openers made a flying start with openers Jyoti Pandey and skipper Sita Rana Magar putting up 70 runs on the board in 12.3 overs. Rana Magar struck seven fours on her way to completing half century.

Player of the match Rana Magar scored unbeaten 52 off 50 balls, while Pandey hit five boundaries in her 32 off 40 balls.

Rana Magar and Indu Berma (eight not out) took the team home after Sarita Magar was dismissed for six.

Rubina Chhetri and Sangita Rai took one wicket each for Province-1.

In another match, Lalitpur Mayor-XI scored 107-5 in 20 overs before Sudurpashchim Province reached 113-3 with six balls remaining. Kanchan Shrestha top scored for Mayor-XI with 63 off 56 balls hitting eight boundaries, while Suman Khatiwada struck two fours in her 17-ball 16 and Asmina Karmacharya contributed 13 with the help of two boundaries.

Kabita Kunwar, Ritu Kanoujiya and Samjhana Khadka took one wicket each for Sudurpashchim Province.

In reply, Sudurpashchim opener Manju Bokati scored 42-ball 41 with the help of six fours, while Rewati Dhami contributed 18. They put up 52 runs on the board in 11.4 overs. Bokati was later named the player of the match. Dolly Bhatta and Kabita Joshi added 37 runs for the unbroken fourth wicket to complete the victory with six balls to spare. Bhatta struck two fours and a six in her 14-ball 22, while Joshi scored run-a-ball 10 with the help of a six. Suman Khatiwada and Arati Bidari took one wicket each for Mayor-XI.

A total of five teams are taking part in the tournament.

The winners will be richer by Rs 300,000, while the runners-up will get Rs 150,000. Likewise, the player of the series will earn Rs 25,000, while the best batter and bowler will get Rs 15,000 each.
