KATHMANDU: Nepal Athletics Association is organising the 16th Asian Cross Country Championship under the auspices of Asian Athletics Association in Kathmandu on March 7.

Nepal had last hosted the international championship in 1999 and the NAA got the opportunity 24 years later.

According to NAA, around 450 athletes from 40-45 nationals will compete in the championship to be held at the Gokarna Forest Resort.

The championship features four individual and team events - 10km races in senior men's and women's sections, 8km race in men's U-20 and 6km race in women's U-20 category.

The organisers have estimated a budget of Rs 30.65 million for the championship and NAA President Rajeev Bikram Shah urged the government, National Sports Council, Province Sports Development Council and corporate houses to support the event.
