Bastakoti wins RNGC 98th Anniversary Cup

Shaswat Bastakoti won the title of the 98th RNGC Anniversary Cup here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.
Bastakoti, who had completed his round on Friday, scored 40 points to finish first in the 18-hole category, while Saroj Bastakoti was runner-up with 39 points. The second day’s play was reduced to nine holes because of rain and Suhrid Ghimire was the top scorer with 23 points.
Phunsok N Lama was the runner-up. Eighteen players had completed their rounds on Friday, while 66 golfers, including six women, played on Saturday. Gopal Chitrakar won the gross section trophy, while RNGC President Rabindra Man Shrestha came second.
Kalyan G Shrestha was the winner in senior category, while Hari Bahadur Shrestha came second in this category. Likewise, Dr Rita Thapa claimed the women’s category title, while Pawitra Yakthumba came second. Sher Bahadur Pandey (14) and Shiva B Bhandari (10) were the top two players in super senior category.
Binod Tamang scored 19 points to finish first among Nepal Golf Development Camp participants, while Subham Agrawal was the winner in junior category with 16 points and Arnav Shah finished second with 14 points. Maj Ajay Dhyani won the guest
section title with 18 points, while Kalyan G Shrestha received the most birdies award. Naresh Gurung took the sportsmanship award.
RNGC President Shrestha, Vice-president Tashi Ghale, Lady Captain Pawitra Yakthumba and past presidents Vinod SJB Rana, Yagesh Prasad Lohani, Madhukar Yakthumba and Prachanda Bahadur Shrestha handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament. RNGC, the oldest golf club of the country, organised the two-day tournament to mark its 98th anniversary.
