Kathmandu, April 1
Sumed Bhattarai won the first edition title of the Surya Nepal Gokarna Monthly Medal here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.
Played under stroke play full handicap format, Bhattarai carded five-under 67 and registered two-stroke victory over Dr Bhagwan Koirala in the nett category.
Dr Koirala played three-under 69 to finish second.
Sumod Bastakoti finished third on count back after he was tied with Pradip KC at one-under 71.
Tashi Tshiring won the grosssection trophy with the score of one-over 73.
In all, 26 golfers took part in the tournament sponsored by Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd. Vice President of Nepal Golf Association and Executive Member of Gokarna Golf Club, Pavitra Kumar Karki handed over the prizes to the winners.
A total of 10 medal rounds will be played till December. Top 40 players in nett category and top 10 golfers in gross section will qualify for Club Championship finals, which will be played over two rounds in January and February next year.
