Boys Union Club squander two-goal lead against MYA

Divine Boys Union Club squandered a two-goal lead before settling for a 2-2 draw against Madhyapur Youth Association in the Martyrs Memorial B Division Football League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

In the nerve-racking match of the day between the former top flight clubs, both the teams were reduced to 10 men after Ganesh Khadka of Boys Union and Subarna Karki of Madhyapur were sent off for manhandling inside four minutes.

Boys Union took the lead in the injury time of first half when Binod Lama found the net, while Abishek Rijal, who was suspended for the previous match against New Road Team because of double yellow cards, made it 2-0 in the 80th minute. At a time when the match was heading towards the end and Boys Union Club about to celebrate the victory, Madhyapur struck twice in the last seven minutes, both through penalty goals.

Sajan Pradhan cut the deficit in the 83rd minute when he converted the penalty before Madhyapur earned second spot kick in the injury time and Pradhan netted the equaliser without any mistake to snatch a point for the team. Madhyapur remained unchanged at seventh position with six points, while Boys Union climbed to ninth with four points from four matches.
