CAN names ICC Intercontinental Cup squad

Kathmandu, March 19:

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) today anounced the 14-member suqad for the forthcoming three-day ICC Intercontinental Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates from March 25-27.

Nepal will play against the UAE in the first match of the tournament. The National Selection Committee under Sushil Chaugain selected the players from the camp held here in Kathmandu.

According to the CAN release, Raju Khadka and Binod Das have been selected as captain and vice-captain respectively. Other members of the team are Raj Kumar Pradhan, Paras Lunia, Dipendra Chaudhari, Manjit Shrestha, Meh-boob Alam, Manoj Katuwal (wicket-keeper), Bikash Lal Dali, Sajam Regmi, Shakti Prasad Gauchan, Paresh Lohani, Sahrad Vesawkar and Raju Basnyat. Kanishka Chaugain, Paras Khadka, Dhirendra Chand and Manoj Baishya are the four substitute players.

The officials nominated by the CAN included Laxman Prasad Bastola, joint secretary of CAN, as the team manager and Pradip Kumar Karki, member of CAN, as the assistant manager. Roy Luke Dias will be the coach.

On March 14, CAN had named 20-member probables. Of the team selected for the last round-camp, Yunil Shrestha and Kalam Ali have been dropped.
