Chelsea opens EPL defense against Swansea, Man U hosts Spurs

LONDON: Chelsea will begin its English Premier League defense against Swansea, while Manchester United hosts Tottenham on the opening weekend.

The fixtures for the 2015-16 campaign were released on Wednesday less than a month after Chelsea collected the league trophy.

Chelsea, which is at home on the weekend of Aug. 8-9, routed Swansea 5-0 in their last meeting in January.

It is a tougher start for United as Louis van Gaal tries to deliver the team's first title since 2013 under Alex Ferguson.

Slaven Bilic's first match as West Ham manager will be at Arsenal, which finished third last season.

Manchester City, which was deposed as champion by Chelsea, starts at West Bromwich Albion.

Bournemouth opens its first-ever topflight campaign with a home match against Aston Villa.
