Chitrakar claims Standard Chartered Golf title
Kathmandu, November 23
Gopal Chitrakar won the title of the Standard Chartered Bank Priority Golf Tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club on Saturday.
Played under stableford 3/4 handicap format, Chitrakar won the trophy on count back after he was tied on 37 points with Tashi Tshiring and Prince Bhandari. The six-handicap amateur golfer Chitrakar and two-handicapper Tshiring scored 17 points each on the back nine, while Bhandari, who plays with 13 handicap allowances, earned 15 points that ruled him out of the race.
The winner was then decided on the count of last six holes. Chitrakar earned 10 points on the last six holes, while Tshiring had nine. Along with the trophy, Chitrakar received Callaway Epic Flash Driver. Runner-up Tshiring got Callaway Epic Flash Three Wood, while second runner-up Bhandari received Callaway Big Birtha Rescue.
Aarti Rana won the women’s section title with the score of 33 points, while Rekha Ghimire finished second with 32 points.
Along with the trophy, Rana received Callaway Epic Flash Three Wood.
Rabindra Man Shrestha won the closest-to-the-pin award and he got Odyssey Putter, while Vijay Shrestha Einhaus and Rekha Ghimire bagged the longest drive awards.
In a putting competition organised for non-golfers, Suraj Lamichanne and Sital Koirala claimed top two spots respectively.
A total of 78 golfers took part in the invitational tournament sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank.
CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Anirvan Ghosh, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing Pranu Singh, President of Gokarna Golf Club Suhrid Ghimire and Captain Joseph Nathan handed over the prizes to the winners.
