KATHMANDU: Deep Jyoti and NIMS advanced to the semi-finals of the Daffodil Cup Junior Football Tournament today.

Deep Jyoti drubbed LRI 8-1 with Bikash Pun scoring four goals alone. Sujit Dahal also added a brace and Sushant Matial and Subash Giri scored the other goals for the winners. Santosh Lama pulled back a consolation goal for LRI.

In the other match, NIMS beat Bright Land 5-2. Milan Rai and Biju Basnet scored two goals each and Sagar Tamang added the other for NIMS. Sudip Thapa Magar replied for Bright Land. RIBS and APF School are already through to the semis.

In the boys’ basketball, Awareness Academy (AIA), Unique Academy and NIMS won their respective matches. AIA saw off Martyrs Memorial 46-34 riding on 28 points from Jumin and Unique beat Baba 55-39 with 18-point contribution from Manish Lama. Likewise, NIMS overcame Pennwood Academy 53-34, in which Tshering Sherpa scored 20 points for the winners. In the only girls’ basketball match, hosts Daffodil defeated Shri Diwa 22-14 with 13-point contribution from Beena.
