Diaby's own goal gifts United 2-1 win over Arsenal

MANCHESTER: Arsenal midfielder Abou Diaby headed into his own goal to gift Manchester United a 2-1 victory in the Premier League on Saturday.

Diaby was under no pressure from United's forwards when he turned in Ryan Giggs' free kick, giving the Premier League champions their 1,000th win in the top flight.

United trailed following Andrei Arshavin's thunderous strike in the 40th minute, but Wayne Rooney leveled from the penalty spot in the 59th.

The Gunners thought they had made it 2-2 in the fifth minute of stoppage time but Robin van Persie's shot was ruled out because William Gallas was adjudged to be offside.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was sent into the stands by referee Mike Dean for his furious reaction.
