Far-west register win, Morang hold Jhapa

Sudur Biscuits Far-west FC came from behind to register a 3-1 victory over 10-man Jagadamba Lumbini FC, while league leaders Jhapa FC were held to a goalless draw by Morang FC in the Red Bull National League on Wednesday.
In the match played at the ANFA Complex grounds in Satdobato, Bimal Gharti Magar, SudanThapa and Dinesh Rajbanshi scored for Far-west, while Kamal Shrestha scored for Lumbini. With the win, Far-west climbed to sixth with 10 points, while Lumbini are at bottom with four points from nine matches.
Lumbini took hold off the match through a goal from Kamal Shrestha in the 25th minute. Biswas Shrestha and Kamal Shrestha exchanged short passes as they took a clever corner and the latter slammed home.
Far-west levelled the scores in the 53rd minute when U-19 skipper Magar converted the penalty. Far-west earned the spot kick after Kalu Thapa of Lumbini handled the ball inside the danger box. Lumbini were reduced to 10 men after Biswas Shrestha received second caution of the match in the 54th minute.
Sudhan Thapa put Far-west ahead in the 84th minute when he scored following a pass from Tej Tamang. Lumbini goalkeeper Dilip Chhetri got his hands to the ball but the shot was too powerful for him to stop. Dinesh Rajbanshi made it 3-1 with a header as he met Amit Tamang’s in-swinging cross in the 90th minute.
Far-west coach Kiran Shrestha said the boys played well and was happy with the performance. “We are slowly coming up. We had few problems in the beginning but after the arrival of Magar the team looks strong. The performance of the team will be better in upcoming matches.” Lumbini coach Yam Gurung said the players were not ready for the match after Tuesday’s incident in Rupandehi. “The boys could not focus on their game as the reports were not good about their area.”
In another match played in Biratnagar, Jhapa were held to a goalless draw by Morang. Despite the draw, Jhapa are at the top of the table with 17 points from eight games, while Morang are eighth with five points. Tribhuvan Army Club will take on NPC on Thursday.
