Franchitti on pole for season-ending Indy race
MIAMI: Dario Franchitti captured the pole for the Firestone Indy 300 as he goes for the IndyCar Series championship in Saturday's season-ending race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Franchitti's Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Scott Dixon qualified second and Ryan Briscoe from Team Penske took third.
Dixon qualified 0.25 seconds adrift of Franchitti to give Ganassi the front starting row for the second-consecutive race.
Dixon grabbed the pole and Franchitti qualified second last month in Japan before Dixon went on to capture his series-leading fifth win of the season.
Briscoe enters the season-finale eight points back of Dixon.
