Gokarna Open from May 18
The 4th Gokarna Open Amateur Golf Championship will tee off on May 18 here at the Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Golf Resort.
It will feature more than 130 golfers from Nepal and India, including Ambassadors from Sri Lanka, Japan and France. 80 golfers from Gokarna Forest Golf Resort, 20 from Royal Nepal Golf Course, 15 from Pokhara and 10 each from Dharan and Royal Nepal Army are participating at the annual event of Gokarna Golf Resort. 15 ladies are fighting for Ladies title in the three-category championship, other two being open and senior.
The attraction of the tournament will be James McGuiness, a 12-year-old enthusiast and a 77-year-old veteran Himalaya SJB Rana.
According to the organisers, the registration fee for members of the club is Rs 1,000, while non-members wiil have to dish out Rs 1,500 that includes breakfast and lunch.
Defending champion Tashi Ghale, who represented Nepal at a regional amateur golf event in Bangladesh, and other golfer Binod Shrestha who won the amateur title at the Old Course at Andrews in Scotland are also participating in the championship which being sponsored by Hotel Shangri-La, Carlsberg and Coca Cola.
