Golden Gate, Trinity set title clash
KATHMANDU: Golden Gate International College and Trinity College set the championship clash of the GAA sixth Fr Watrin Men’s Basketball Tournament here today.
In both the high scoring semi-finals played played at the Godavari Alumni Association (GAA) hall in Thamel, Golden Gate defeated Pentagon 104-60 riding on 26 points from Joe while Trinity hammered Revolver 93-70 with 29-point contribution from Wisdom Pandey.
Golden Gate took a massive 31-8 lead in the first quarter and maintained the dominance through out the match. They scored 19 points against 18 of the Pentagon in the second quarter to complete the first half with 50-26 lead.
Golden Gate added further 26 points in the third, six more than
Pentagon and rounded up the final quarter adding 28 points to that of the 14 of Pentagon. Subrat posted 17 points for Pentagon.
In the second semi-final, Trinity enjoyed the dominance in the first two quarters scoring 33-19 and 31-14 . The lead turned out to be sufficient for Trinity to oust Revolver. Revolver scored better than Trinity in the last two quarters but scores — 17-15 and 20-14 — was not enough for them to cover the deficit of first two quarters. Bona Malik netted 20 points for Revolver.
The final will be played on Thursday at St Xavier’s School in Jawalakhel.
