Kathmandu, March 25
Golden Gate International College defeated Blue Bird College by 27 runs in the final of the second Patriots Cup Inter-college T20 Cricket Tournament here at the Mulpani grounds today.
Batting first, Golden Gate posted 148-6 in their allotted 20 overs before packing Blue Bird for 121 runs with seven balls to spare. Player-of-thematch Aashutosh Ghiraiya scored a half century and returned to take two wickets to help Golden Gate win the trophy along with Rs 100,000.
Runners-up Blue Bird earned Rs 50,000.
Ghiraiya top scored for Golden Gate with 66 off just 55 balls, while Trit Raj Joshi and Sahil Patel contributed 19 runs each. Ravi Sah (10) also scored in double digits. Mehool Shrestha and Kaushal Rupakheti took two wickets each for Blue Bird, while Subash Khatri and Bibek Rana Magar grabbed one apiece.
In reply, Dipak Dumre scored 29-ball 32 for Blue Bird, while Sandip Singh Bista scored 20 off 18 balls. Ronim Tiwari (19) and Nirvik Pathak (10) scored in double figures.
Ravi Sah (2-16) and Ghiraiya (2-25) shared four wickets between them, while Trit Raj Joshi and Alfoz Mansuri bagged one wicket each for Golden Gate.
Ghiraiya was declared the player of the tournament and he received Rs 25,000, while his teammate Ravi Sah won the best bowler's award along with Rs 15,000. Dipak Prasad Dumre was named the best batter and he received Rs 15,000.
A total of 12 teams took part in the annual tournament organised by Lalitpur Patriots Pvt Ltd.
