Gyan Bhairav, Birgunj Youth Academy enter ‘B’ Division

Gyan Bhairav Club and Birgunj Youth Academy entered the ‘B’ Division after their wins at Super League of the Martyrs’ Memorial ‘C’ Division League Football Tournament.
Both teams have four points each from two matches. On Saturday, Gyan Bhairav blanked Naxal Yuva Mandal 3-0 on goals from Kanchan Gurung, Raju Krishna Shakya and Arun Chaulagain.
In another match, Birgunj and Bansbari played a 1-1 draw. Ritu Shakya scored for Birgunj while Niran Bista netted for Bansbari. The top three team from Super League will make it to the ‘B’ Division. The third qualifier will be decided on Monday, when Naxal, who needs a win, face Bansbari, who needs just a draw to advance.
Kazakhstan thrash Nepal
KATHMANDU: Nepal faced yet another loss to Kazakstan at the Middle Asia Zone qualifiers for the FIBA Asian Basketball Championship, losing all their hopes to qualify in the championship. Playing their third match in New Delhi, the Nepali players went down 39-144 to Kazakhstan. Rupak Gurung top-scored with 23 points for Nepal while Rabindra Maharjan scored 16. Nepal will face Uzbekistan on Sunday, in their last match. Meanwhile, Raj Kumar Maharjan became the first Nepali to officiate an international match when officiated Uzbekistan vs Bangladesh match on Saturday.
Yadav wins Air Rifle title
LALITPUR: Asim Yadav of Central Region won with 567 out of 600 points in Men’s Air Rifle at the Birthday Cup Open Shooting Competition. Shankar Shrestha (563) and Krishna Ghorasaini (557) came second and third. In Air Pistol, Sudan Khadka (548), Rudra Raj Maskey (536) and Deepak Thapa (533) claimed the top three spots.
