Top Nepali amateur golfer Subash Tamang wrote his names in history books by making cut in the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and then faltered in the last two rounds at the Amata Spring Country Club in Chonburi, Thailand.
The 13th South Asian Games double gold medallist, Tamang survived the cut with the 36- hole total of even-par 144 becoming the first Nepali player to qualify for the last two rounds.
After playing two-over 74 in the opening round, Tamang carded two-under 70 on the second day to share the 47th position and make the cut, which was applied at even-par 144.
Tamang then faltered to 14- over 86 on the third day and shot a seven-over 79 in the last round today to finish at the bottom among the 54 golfers to earned berths in the final two rounds. He posted 72-hole total of 21-over 309. Starting the round from the 10th tee, he played five-over 41 in the front nine and shot two-over 38 in the latter half.
He carded a birdie on the 11th hole but Tamang faced four bogeys on the 13th, 14, 17th and 18th holes apart from suffering a double bogey on the 17th hole. After taking the turn, Tamang faced double bogeys on the first and fourth against birdies on second and eighth holes. Another Nepali golfer, Sadbhav Acharya failed to make the cut after he shot nine-over 153 on the first two days.
Australian Harrison Crowe won the title with the 72-hole total of 13-under 275 after he carded even-par 72 in the final round. China's Bo Jin (71) came second at 12-under, while Australia's Jeff Guan (69) and Japan's Ryuta Suzuki (73) shared the third position at nine-under 279.
