O’Brien to retire

WELLINGTON: New Zealand fast bowler Iain O’Brien said he will retire from international cricket at the end of the third Test against Pakistan in Napier. He said he was now at a stage in his life when he would like to spend more time with his wife Rosie, who lives in England. He also said he has signed up to play first class cricket with Middlesex. He wants to start a family and it’s a little difficult to do that on opposite sides of the world. Since they married two-and-a-half years ago, the pair have lived only nine months together.

Murali doubtful

MUMBAI: Off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan may miss Sri Lanka’s two Twenty20 Internationals against India next week due to a finger injury on his bowling hand. The world record holder for most wickets in Test and one-day cricket suffered the injury while playing football following the second day’s play of the third Test. The two Twenty20 matches will be played on Wednesday in

Nagpur and on Saturday in Mohali. The one-day series starts on

December 15.
