Kathmandu, June 1:

Jalpa High School defeated Bishwo Gorkha Academy 2-0 in the Group D final of the selection tournament for the Coca Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament.

Puran Shrestha put his team ahead in the 37th minute and Kabiraj Mali doubled the tally two minutes later as Jalpa earned the berth in the qualification match against Group C winners GEMS. The winner will advance to the main draw.

In Group F, Gambhir Samundra High School, Vidhya Mandir High School and Tri-Jyoti Boarding School made it to the quarter-finals. Sante Lama scored a brace after Bishnu Thapa struck in the 16th minute as Gambhir Samundra defeated Jyoti Academy 3-0.

Ashok Maharjan scored in the 60th and 62nd minutes in Vidhya Mandir’s 2-0 victory over Asmita High School. In the other match, Tri-Jyoti thrashed Birat High School 10-0. Netra Magar struck four goals, Buddha Gurung and Saman Shrestha netted two each and Kumar Thapa and Dipesh Joshi scored one apeice for the winners.
