Jalpa defeat GEMS, qualify
Kathmandu, June 3:
Jalpa High School beat Graded English Medium School (GEMS) 5-4 on penalties to qualify for the Coca Cola Inter-school National Football Tournament here today.
The match went to tie-breaker after both the teams were deadlocked at 4-4 in the 80 minutes of play. Jalpa earned the berth in the main draw as the winner of Group C and D. Deep Jyoti have already qualified for the tournament from Group A and B.
In the Group F selection match, Bijay Smarak High School entered the quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over IJ Pioneer School 1-0. Sailesh Karki scored the solitary goal in the 40th minute.
Gitamata High School and Student Academy made it to the semi-finals in Group E. Gitamata defeated Harisiddhi High School 4-2 in tie-breaker after a 4-4 draw, while Chandra Lama scored the winning goal in the 20th minute as Student Academy edged out Oxford Practical English School 1-0.
