Rumpum Jhapa-XI defeated CMG Club Sankata 4-2 on penalties in the final of the fourth Katari Mayor Cup Gold Cup Football Tournament here today.

The match was decided in spot kick battle after both the teams failed to score in regulation period of 90 minutes and 15 minutes of extra time.

Jhapa’s Karna Limbu, Bishal Gurung, Prabesh Gurung and Bikash Thulung converted their shots from the spot, while Yogesh Gurung shot wide. Sankata’s Hemanta Thapa Magar and Bishwo Adhikari converted their kicks, while Ajit Gurung and Sujan BK failed to score. Winners Jhapa and runners-up Sankata got Rs 500,000 and Rs 251,000 respectively.

Jhapa’s Bikash Gurung was named the best player of the tournament and received a mountain bike, while his teammate Manoj Pradhan was the best goalkeeper and he got a mobile set. Similarly, Suraj BK and Bishwo Adhikari were the best defender and midfielder respectively and Tampi Anest was highest scorer. They also got a mobile set each.
